Our Story

 Introducing Ian (Ox)  McColl.

For as long as I can remember I have made objects out of clay.  Small cars and racing tracks in the clay around the dams on my family’s farm, at school, and then once shown how to use the pottery  wheel – It completely hooked me in and has been a lifelong journey.

I have explored many opportunities within the pottery world. From gaining a Bachelor's Degree in Ceramics, to building a wide variety of kilns, working with potters both in Australia and internationally and wholesale production for designers and restaurants. Many years have been spent honing the skills needed to be able to produce high quality pottery.

Oxart produces a wide variety of pottery products and operates a vibrant pottery school. The range of functional pottery items produced is designed to be used on a daily basis, mugs, plates, platters and teapots are just a few of the items.  All products from OXART pottery are dishwasher, microwave and oven proof.

 Oxart @ Taradale.

As partners, Ox and Leanne have now fully realized the vision of a single site, multi use pottery hub in Taradale, which is located on the Old Calder Hwy - 10 mins north of Kyneton and just 5 mins onward from Malmsbury. It is an old 70's Roadhouse that oozes character and is our base for a variety of small group workshops and regular lessons. We are currently in the planning stages of organizing future sculpture, painting, printmaking and drawing workshops.

We have a welcoming gallery/shop that is open on weekends and most weekdays where you can purchase beautiful Oxart pots as they come out of the kiln.  Our lessons are in full swing and often booked out, with the availability of regular Adult, Teen and Kids Classes.  You can book by visiting the 'Pottery Classes' page from the menu above.

It is an exciting and continually evolving venture, which we are love sharing with everyone in the near future.  Please pop in and grab a coffee and say hello!
